In light of Obama’s recent remarks on increasing the minimum wage and his thoughts on redistribution, I thought it would be appropriate to take a quote from someone I’m sure he respects: Norman Thomas. He was a six time Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party of America and made the following remark on the Presidential campaign in 1948:
“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” ~ Norman Thomas
Any chance you see a trend happening here in America? It started with The New Deal and has continued with a progressive tax system, the affordable care act, cries for gun control, stop and frisk (a violation of the 4th Amendment), increased government subsistence (SNAP, disregard for social security disability laws, increased unemployment benefits), socialized student loans, disregard of immigration laws, and, at the same time, oppression of opposition (IRS).
“As long as we have faith in our own cause and an unconquerable will to win, victory will not be denied us.” ~ Winston Churchill
“The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.” ~ Winston Churchill
In light of my rant regarding the minimum wage and entitlement, I thought this quote from Jefferson very appropriate.
“I’m a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it” ~ Thomas Jefferson

“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” ~ Abraham Lincoln
Very topical quote of the day considering the news coming out about the IRS silencing critics of Obamacare.
“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable” ~ John F. Kennedy
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” ~ John Fitzgerald Kennedy
“Recession is when a neighbor loses his job. Depression is when you lose yours.” ~ Ronald Reagan
