Oprah Winfrey, in a feeble attempt to promote her movie, The Butler, is invoking the race card and boy is she not playing with a full deck. Several days ago Winfrey decided to take a play out of our President’s playbook: Disparage Americans on foreign soil (minute 4:12). Sometimes it makes you wonder if they believe it won’t be seen in America or if they’re just afraid to say it to our face. It’s almost like that good friend that talks behind your back. I digress. Not only did Winfrey say that racism exists in America, she said it’s the predominate reason for the criticism of our President. It isn’t the tons of scandals like Fast and Furious (with a sitting AG in contempt of Congress), Benghazi, IRS, NSA, and now Obamacare lies, it’s that we are all racist.
Let’s take a look at all of these criticisms and scandals in the way a liberal would: Blame Bush. Can you imagine what would happen to Bush if just one of these scandals occurred under his watch? Remember what happened to Bush when some murdering terrorists were forced to get in cheerleader like pyramids while in their underwear by a few soldiers? Many in the mainstream media called for Bush to be arrested for war crimes or impeachment. Meanwhile Obama systematically murders thousands of civilians in his drone program and us Americans are racist for raising concerns.
There is a problem with race in this country and there are those that will always remain bigots and disgusting, I realize this and am not ignorant to this fact. But we need to realize and admit it everyone is capable of racism regardless of their skin color. In this interview below, Oprah says emphatically that racism exists, but then is sure to point out emphatically that it’s only against black people (minute 1:53). She somehow seems to infer that black people are incapable of racism. I know, I’ve heard the argument before that you have to be in a position of power to be racist. Well that statement to me is racist in and of itself. It seems to imply that black people aren’t in power or incapable of power. I liken this to the statements we hear constantly on the left about how voter ID laws are inherently racist. The implication: Blacks and Hispanics are incapable or too stupid to get an ID. Or that cutting government programs (any big government cut) is racist because blacks and Hispanics are always dependent on government. To cut these programs is racism. Isn’t it racist to belief that blacks and Hispanics need a nanny state to take care of them? Just looking at the numbers, there are more white people on food stamps and government programs than any other race so if it’s white racism to cut these programs then these racists are hurting more whites than blacks.
Let’s get back to Oprah. Oprah Winfrey is arguably one of the most successful media moguls in history. Notice how I didn’t say woman, black woman, or black? To take one and say they’re the best in a subsection of the population just means they’re the best of a lessor number of people and aren’t capable of competing with everyone else. Making statements where you preface someone’s success by invoking their skin color or gender is degrading and racist in my opinion.
What is so hypocritical of Winfrey is that she says that racism is the reason for criticism of the President. Let’s look at the 2008 election and determine if it was white racism that got our President elected. A full 43% of whites voted for him and a stunning 54% of young white voters supported Obama. Not sure that I’d consider the majority of white people in America racist based on these facts. On the flip side, a full 96% of blacks voted for Obama. With that in mind, still think Oprah is right that only whites are racist?
Let’s look at Oprah Winfrey and her success. Black people represent 13% of the population in America. Do you think that Winfrey made her billions just on the backs of black people or do you think there was some white support here? I’m pretty sure there are millions of white people in this country that have supported her through the years. Now Winfrey is saying that the majority of Americans are racist and thinks they need to die before we can be post racial (3:15 minute mark).
