Bear with me on this one…
So I’m watching that show “Years of Living Dangerously” on HBO. Trying to actually listen to the hysteria and scare mongering that is being spewed about climate change. You know, climate change. That thing that used to be global warming until global warming actually stopped. On this show they just keep throwing out unsubstantiated and unproven numbers. They actually said that the storm surge due to Sandy was a foot higher due to the rising sea levels directly related to climate change. Where did they even get that number? I had read (from reputable scientific reports) that the sea levels will rise at current temperature changes at the width of a paperclip over the next 100 years…so where does this one foot rise come from? It’s as though the left and progressives can say anything without being challenged. What’s more scary is that they have the platforms to do just that. They have the mainstream media. And they have Hollywood. Remember “The Day After Tomorrow?” That incredibly idiotic movie where global warming actually caused instant freezing of humans? It’s hysteria and fear mongering like this that makes me skeptical of climate change. Any idea that remains unchallenged and silences opponents, is a dangerous idea.
So that leads me to my latest thoughts on progressivism and people in our midst that live cause by cause. They may not even know what they’re fighting for, but they love being a part of something. What’s scary about this group think is that these people will push ideas without any thought or research. They take the word of Al Gore, someone that made over $200M selling his television network to an oil producing country, instead of that of the scientists that are trying to create a practical and reasonable discussion about climate change. They silence this discussion constantly.
I’m really trying to figure out what their thought process is and what they are really pushing. Why do they wake up daily miserable and unhappy about what you are doing? Then it struck me. It’s quite obvious: They feel guilty. And they want to push that guilt on you. Think about it. You create trash. Shame on you. You burn fossil fuels. You are a problem. You eat meat. You hate animals. You carry a gun legally. You’re a psycho. You explore for more fuel to make energy costs lower for the poor. You’re polluting the land. You fight to save babies. You hate women and are limiting their careers. You put criminals to death. You hate life…Sorry, I have to comment on this one. I’ve always been amazed at the left’s ability to fight for the life of hardcore disgusting murderers and rapists and then in the same breath love it when someone kills a baby. Sorry, I digress again. You want limited government and fiscal responsibility. You’re a racist.
So what is Progressivism? It isn’t about solving any problems. It’s about bitching about problems and then marginalizing anyone that disagrees. Think about the hashtag campaign to get the girls back. Really?!?! How about we send in troops and get the girls. I’m immediately called a war monger. So progressives love to feel bad and they want you to feel bad and guilty like them, but they don’t really want to solve a problem. Imagine if we just altruistically closed all business to stop fossil fuels from polluting the atmosphere (I know, it would kill billions, but bear with me). What would these poor souls do? What signs would they hold up? What t-shirts would they wear? And their poor cars…they’d have to peel off all of those bumper sticker. I feel as though this progressive ideology has really taken off in the past 6 years since Obama took office. Could that be why the misery index has been rising in this country? I’m kind of thinking that it may be. Think about it. You are chastised on social media for enjoying your life. You are constantly bombarded with how you aren’t doing anything about ______ (insert any bumper sticker liberal idea).
So life has become tougher as the disease of Progressivism has spread like a plague in America. Couple that with high unemployment and even higher government dependency and you have the makings for the collapse of our Republic. I’ve had many a conversation with people that are scared for the lives their children will live. Hopefully this is just the makings of what every generation says. Time will tell. In the meantime, go back to feeling guilty for being, well, you.
